While some make the personal decision to avoid dairy-based foods and beverages, others are lactose intolerant or allergic. Intolerance means the body is not able to digest the milk sugar, lactose, which can cause a variety of undesirable side effects. Others avoid dairy products due to high fat content or because dairy cows are typically given growth hormones and antibiotics. When hormones are present in the dairy consumed by humans, it can elevate the risk of certain diseases as well as hormonal imbalances. There are amazing alternative, plant based milks now that take the animal out of the equation while enhancing nutrients and absorption without the side effects that a cow's milk could have on a human.
What's up with gluten?
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, wheat barley and malts. Many processed foods, sauces, seasonings, flavourings, even beer and licorice contain gluten. Some people may not realize how much gluten actually affects their body in a negative way. This is why we cut it out for the 30 days, that way once it is slowly reintroduced into one's diet after the 30 days, they can see how and if the body reacts to it (negative reactions/ symptoms in the body can also be caused by the other common allergens we cut out. Soy, yeast, caffeine, alcohol, corn peanuts, etc.) A major issue with gluten, and many of the other allergens, is that it is overproduced today and loaded with pesticides. It is no where near the natural grain we had 100 years ago! If you want to learn more, we highly recommend this podcast episode!
